Minimal weight, compact pack size, and excellent thermal performance – the Ultra 6.5R Mummy is the perfect mat for backpacking, bikepacking, or alpine tours year-round. This mat meets EXPED's minimum insulation recommendation for mats that can be used reliably in all four seasons. The mummy shape makes it even lighter and more compact.

With the innovative SYNMAT PLUS TECHNOLOGY™, the recycled, synthetic microfibre filling is combined with an additional layer of reflective foil. This maximizes thermal performance while keeping the mat light, quiet, and compact. All our backpacking mats feature Cradle Comfort™ for added comfort: the vertical outer air chambers are slightly raised for even better support on the mat.

The recycled, bluesign®-recognized ripstop polyester is ultra-light and three times stronger than conventional materials. Thanks to the two flat valves, the mat can be inflated effortlessly and deflated just as quickly - robust, reliable, and intuitive to use. The Schnozzel pump bag supplied included fast, moisture-free inflation.

R-value is a measure of thermal resistance. It indicates the efficiency of insulation by measuring its resistance to heat transfer. The higher the number, the slower the rate of heat transfer through an insulation.

In EXPED sleeping mats, higher R-values help sleepers retain the heat their bodies generate and the result is the pleasant and sometimes elusive condition called warmth.

Good to know: ISO-rated sleeping bags are tested with 7R mats. EXPED recommends using a sleeping mat with an R-Value of at least 6.5 or higher to ensure your sleeping bag provides the warmth it is rated for.

We recommend storing the rolled-out mat with both valves open in a dry, cool place, such as under the bed.

How to Repair a Leaking Sleeping Mat

We recommend cleaning the mat with warm water and a mild detergent (no bleach!). Carefully clean the mat with a cloth or soft sponge. Make sure all valves are completely closed. Rinse well. The mat should be allowed to air dry after cleaning. DO NOT put your mat in a washing machine or dryer.
