Lightweight, compact when packed and offering excellent thermal performance – the Ultra 6.5R Duo is the perfect mat for trekking, bikepacking or alpine tours all year round. It offers the minimum insulation recommended by EXPED for a mat that can be relied upon in all four seasons. Two independent mat halves ensure that there is no unpleasant rocking sensation at night when someone moves.

The innovative SYNMAT PLUS TECHNOLOGY™ combines the synthetic microfibre filling with an additional layer of reflective foil. This maximises thermal performance without increasing the weight or pack size – perfect for nights with lower temperatures. Cradle Comfort™ ensures a comfortable lie on all our trekking mats: the outer air chambers running lengthways are slightly raised for even better support on the mat.

The ripstop polyester is ultra-light and three times as strong as conventional materials. Thanks to the two flat valves, the mat can be inflated effortlessly and deflated just as quickly – robust, reliable and intuitive to use. The included Schnozzel Pumpbag ensures quick, moisture-free inflation.

R-value is a measure of thermal resistance. It indicates the efficiency of insulation by measuring its resistance to heat transfer. The higher the number, the slower the rate of heat transfer through an insulation.

In EXPED sleeping mats, higher R-values help sleepers retain the heat their bodies generate and the result is the pleasant and sometimes elusive condition called warmth.

Good to know: ISO-rated sleeping bags are tested with 7R mats. EXPED recommends using a sleeping mat with an R-Value of at least 6.5 or higher to ensure your sleeping bag provides the warmth it is rated for.

We recommend storing the rolled-out mat with both valves open in a dry, cool place, such as under the bed.

How to Repair a Leaking Sleeping Mat

We recommend cleaning the mat with warm water and a mild detergent (no bleach!). Carefully clean the mat with a cloth or soft sponge. Make sure all valves are completely closed. Rinse well. The mat should be allowed to air dry after cleaning. DO NOT put your mat in a washing machine or dryer.
